Now in My Bookbag: Iniquity by Amy A. Bartol

I have waited a long time for the release of Iniquity, and to be honest I am a bit torn about my reactions to it.
The book shows a lot of imagination and, a few times, elicits quite a bit of emotion. For the most part, the book wraps up all the loose ends from all of the previous books in the series. It had to be a large undertaking to try to connect so many dots.
I like the way in which Evie gets the memories back from her past lives. Parts of the foreseen battle are very vivid, inspiring a lot of imagination when I read through it.  There are also parts of the battle that are hazy, a bit of a blur to me.
The story reads well but feels as though it ends in a no decision… like a prize fight. It is definitely a unique strategy by Author Amy Bartol. It is unexpected and illustrative of this series as a whole. 4 stars

Now in My Bookbag: Broken by S.J. West (The Watchers Chronicles Book #1)

(The review for this book/series is long overdue. I finished this series in May of 2014 and merely rated it without writing a review.)
This book opens The Watchers Chronicles fifteen years after the end of The Watchers Trilogy. It centers around a Watcher Agent named Jessica Riley and a Watcher named Mason Collier, who was first introduced in the trilogy.
Where the trilogy maintains a lighter feel, Broken definitely feels a bit darker. West includes subject matter that is much more serious, and characters who are much more broken.
This book has a rather fascinating storyline and well thought out plot devices. The storytelling is wonderful. West creates a whole new reality, in rich detail, that is engaging and believable.
This series promises to be one that is loved by Watcher fans everywhere. 5 stars

Now in My Bookbag: Cursed (Book One of The Watchers Trilogy) by S.J. West

This review is long overdue. I realized yesterday that, though I have rated this book in the past, I never actually did a written review of this series. This gives me the awesome excuse to read these books again.

CursedWest does an excellent job telling the story of Lilly Rayne Nightingale and her introduction to the paranormal world of the Watchers. Lilly is a strong, compelling character with a kind heart and an abundance of love and friendship within her circle.

Characters from Lilly’s circle, (including Will, Brand and Malcolm), bring reminiscence, romance, friendship and heat. They also come with secrets. Lilly’s best friend Tara is tough, funny and loving. These characters are all lovable, and their different personalities flavor the Watchers’ stories in a very enticing way.

The story is well written and complex. With precision, West weaves together a fabric of new adulthood, new love, mysteries, thrills and an exciting new paranormal world.

This read is thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it.

Although it is listed as a Young Adult book, I would classify it more toward Coming of Age or New Adult due to some mature content.
