Now in My Bookbag: Promises (Timeless Series Book 2) by Lisa L Wiedmeier

This is another well-written story in the continuation of Cheyenne’s journey. This one is a more difficult read because Wiedmeier does not spare the heartbreaking moments.

Cheyenne must learn the hard way that sometimes growing pains have expensive consequences. Her quest for the space to ‘find herself’ turns truly tragic and, just like that, the entire mood of the story changes.

Although Promises has a bit more angst throughout, this second book of the Timeless series is well told. I felt light, love, hope and the shell-shocked version of tragedy. This story is worth the tears I shed over it, and I gladly surrender many Kleenexes to the cause.

I am interested to see where the series goes from here.

Now in My Bookbag: Forged in Stone (The Forged Chronicles Book 1) by Alyssa Rose Ivy

This book is an extension of one of my favorite trilogies ever, The Afterglow Trilogy. This new series is centered upon James and Ainsley. James is one of my favorite characters from Afterglow.

He is a tragic hero who is tarnished, by association with his evil father, even though he does the right thing when it matters. In Forged in Stone, it is a few years later and James is settled into his life as a Guardian. He meets Ainsley when he arrives unexpectedly at the Calloway home where she is housesitting. Both of their worlds are turned upside down.

This book is a study in how we become who we are. How do we trust and what do we fear most?

I really love this revisit to Energo, and I love being in the company of Charlotte and Liam once again. However, I must admit that the ending to Forged in Stone has left me a bit shell shocked.

I hope the wait for Forged in Ice is not a long one! 

Now in My Bookbag: Blooms of Consequence (The Dusk Gate Chronicles #4) by Breeana Puttroff

I really enjoyed this book and felt like the magic of the first book, Seeds of Discovery, was back. There was action, adventure and sheer determination of will. There was romance, love, loss and Quinn, the woman at the center of it all.

I was so excited to read this book and found that every page I turned felt like a continuation of this odyssey. I was so proud of Quinn. She was everything a heroine should be. William was, as ever, her Prince Charming. His love gave her strength. The families I loved, just as in Seeds of Discovery.

I felt that this series was perfect for a young adult reader.

This book created the conclusion of this story arc. There are additional stories to continue the saga including a follow up novella, A Christmas Rose, that occurs a few months after the conclusion of Blooms of Consequence.

Now in My Bookbag: Seeds of Discovery (The Dusk Gate Chronicles Book 1) by Breeana Puttroff

This book is very enjoyable and a treat for the imagination. There are many elements reminiscent of children’s fairy tales, though it is written for the young adult audience. It also provides an escape into a fantasy world for those in older demographics who enjoy the occasional light read from the YA genre.

The characters are very likeable, with one exception, and adventures are fun. Quinn, the main character, has a very inquisitive nature and feels compelled when there is a mystery to solve. William, another primary character, is an enigma. She can not control the urge to figure him out. There is even more to William than Quinn can image.

She is blown away when she discovers the truth. A whole new world, Eirentheos, opens before her. Quinn’s time with William’s family creates a lasting bond, and she is introduced to a side of him that she has never seen before.

Puttroff weaves an entertaining, fantastical tale of stepping into the imagination only to find that it is real. Through the content in Quinn’s dreams, and the hint that William’s parents are privy to some underlying knowledge, Puttroff creates a whisper of coming plot twists and revelations. This is a delightful read although, due to a specific plot point, this story is appropriate only for the older end of the YA spectrum and up.

Now in My Bookbag: Harvester (Book 1 of the Harvester of Light Trilogy) by SJ West

I love this book. It is well thought out and well written. It flows really well and keeps my interest from start to finish. I am a fan of West’s work and already have a vast amount of her books in my kindle library. I think her concepts are very interesting.

This book is different from most of her other work. It is a combination of science fiction and dystopian society. The main characters are very likeable/loveable. It starts with only Skye, Ash and Blue. They are a team of survivors. staying one step ahead of the Harvesters.

Eventually, Skye acquires Jace as a traveling companion. There is something different about him. They find Zoe, a little girl with a big secret. Along the way to the Southern Kingdom, it is hard to know who to trust.

Each situation is intriguing. Thier sojourn is fascinating. There are heart pounding moments and heartbreaking moments. It is hard to feel so much love and suffer so much loss, but it could be worse. There are moments of self-discovery and even a few moments of joy.

The ending to this story creates more questions than the entire book gives answers. I am officially obsessed with this series now. I can not wait  to see what happens next!
