Now in My Bookbag: INDULGE (INFINITUS BILLIONAIRE 2) by E.B. Walters

An advance review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Walters has delivered a hot, steamy, contemporary romance that is extremely well-told. The heat generated by Lex and Jillian could melt my Kindle. Then there is the love story of ‘Jex’, unconventional and captivating as they draw even closer together.

The love story is brilliantly woven together with a who-done-it style mystery, where almost everyone is a suspect at one time or another and an evil villain seems unstoppable.

Indulge is well-written and thoroughly engaging. I highly recommend with 5/5 stars.

If contemporary romance is a genre you read, you must read the Infinitus Billionaire story, Impulse then Indulge.

Now in My Bookbag: Promises (Timeless Series Book 2) by Lisa L Wiedmeier

This is another well-written story in the continuation of Cheyenne’s journey. This one is a more difficult read because Wiedmeier does not spare the heartbreaking moments.

Cheyenne must learn the hard way that sometimes growing pains have expensive consequences. Her quest for the space to ‘find herself’ turns truly tragic and, just like that, the entire mood of the story changes.

Although Promises has a bit more angst throughout, this second book of the Timeless series is well told. I felt light, love, hope and the shell-shocked version of tragedy. This story is worth the tears I shed over it, and I gladly surrender many Kleenexes to the cause.

I am interested to see where the series goes from here.

Now in My Bookbag: Cheyenne (A Timeless Series Novel) by Lisa L Wiedmeier

This is a novel I have had for a while. I keep setting it aside so I can read new releases by authors I already follow… I should have started it sooner. This is a great concept from the very beginning. The characters are very likable, the interactions are fluid and the heroine is sassy (if a little young to handle the sum total of her world).

Cheyenne is leery that any kind of relationship can last. She has had no lasting connection to anyone in life except her parents. She begins to feel a connection to her best friend’s family. Then, one truth that comes to light, and she is ready to turn her back and run.

I really love Wiedmeier’s writing style. She gives enough description to visualize the scene, but uses most of her prose to advance the plot and keep my interest. I am not a big fan of books in which half of the prose is dedicated to flowery, overdone, extensive descriptive terms.

CHEYENNE is an awesome book. It has heart, humor and love. I look forward to the rest of the series. 5 of 5 stars.

Now in My Bookbag: INDULGE (Book 2 of the Infinitus Billionaire story) By E.B. Walters

I was provided with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Walters has delivered a hot, steamy, contemporary romance that is extremely well-told. The main story, woven throughout, is like a who-done-it mystery where almost everyone is a suspect at one time or another. Then there is the love story of Lex and Jillian, unconventional and captivating as they draw closer and closer together. The heat generated by those two could melt my Kindle (though I am glad it didn’t).

Indulge is well-written and thoroughly engaging. If contemporary romance is a genre you read, you must read the Infinitus Billionaire story, Impulse then Indulge.

I highly recommend with 5/5 stars.

Now in My Bookbag: FRIGID by Jennifer Armentrout (Writing as J. Lynn)

“I was in love with my best friend.”

FrigidThis quote applies to each best friend yet neither knows. If things continue this way through college graduation, neither ever will. It figures that each would feel as though the other was out of their league. They carry their misconceptions well. If either speaks the truth, their great friendship could be over for good. On the brink of something good, actions of the past create distrust in the present, and even the strongest friendship may crumble.

I was drawn in almost immediately to this story. Sydney and Kyler are great characters, each written as the opposite of the other. Armentrout brings each to life, exposing both strengths and weaknesses. She completely creates this believable world that is totally realistic. There are times in the story that the desire to shake some sense into one or the other characters manifests itself. This is a very enjoyable read and a precursor to SCORCHED. Both of these books are must-read.

Now in My Bookbag: Elysian (Celestra Series #8) by Addison Moore

“I think I just figured out what the trouble in paradise might be. Hearts are being broken all across the time continuum, the universe.” (Skyla Messenger, Elysian by Addison Moore)

Elysian

I loved this book. It answered so many questions, and confirmed a couple of my suspicions, from all of the previous books. It testified to the way grief and guilt can color your world. It also showed how love can make you believe things when logic dictates otherwise.

This story made me feel the broken heart, the gut-wrenching grief from all of the characters I love, and the glimpse of hope for the future. There were tears… lots of tears and tissues. There were also some laughs. I think Moore showed a great sense of humor, in just the right amounts, to keep a morose feeling at bay.

I truly enjoyed this book, and it left just enough curiosity about the future to entice readers to buy the sequel series.

Now in My Bookbag: Toxic Part Two (Celestra Series 7.5) by Addison Moore

“They say death comes for you once and no more, and then you dissolve to bones, disintegrate from the memory of the world and cease to exist forever.” (Skyla Messenger, Toxic Part Two by Addison Moore)

This is a story about love, loss, destiny and death. Only one who is brave, strong, committed and pure as gold can face the fire. Only true love lends the willingness to sacrifice everything. Skyla’s life is very complicated and becoming more so as the series progresses. Her home life is crazy and produces some laugh out loud humor.

Although Moore crafts an intricate love life for Skyla, the level of angst is almost too much. I also feel that the amount of descriptive prose is lengthy enough to need additional editing. With an eye for paring down to the essential descriptions, Toxic can, I believe, be edited to one book.

Having said all of that, I did enjoy the ideas, the action, the humor, the concept of destiny and the heart of acceptance.

“This is the moment in my life for love and for death.” (Skyla Messenger)

Now in My Bookbag: Toxic Part One (Celestra Series #7) by Addison Moore

“My muscles twist in knots. My stomach claps together like an accordion full of bile. I gag and claw at his shirt as the life slowly chokes out of me.” (Skyla Messenger, Toxic Part 1 by Addison Moore)
Toxic1

Although this story does contain situations in which toxins are introduced to the body for the purpose of killing, there are also many things that poison without causing physical death. People and circumstances are toxic to attitudes, choices and the heart.

Relationships are poisoned by secrets, and minds become suspicious because words are shot like arrows. Much like the body fights against toxins, characters fight to overcome, fear, doubt, misunderstanding and confusion.

This is a well told story, and it creates very real-feeling thoughts, feelings, attitudes and actions in characters who are steeped in the paranormal. This is a great addition to the Celestra series. However, this is only Part 1 of TOXIC. Hopefully Part 2 will be as well thought out.

Now in My Bookbag: Expel (Book #6 of the Celestra Series) by Addison Moore

“There is no comfort for me, no oil of joy in exchange for my mourning.”

(Skyla Messenger, EXPEL by Addison Moore)

Expel

Indeed, this is a story of mourning. All of the main characters suffer mourning in some form throughout the book. It is very difficult to review this book without writing spoilers because the emotions and feelings generated by the story are completely wrapped around the prose.

The characters become much more complex as more information is filled in. Part of this character growth is driven by the aforementioned mourning. Part of the development is born from sheer determination of will. There is also development in learning from mistakes and hasty decisions.

The story ends in Moore’s prerequisite cliffhanger. There is also a surprising twist that creates the mourning of trust. This book is a recommended read in the continuation of the Celestra story. This book is a good read based on its own merits as well.

Now in My Bookbag: Vex (Celestra Series #5) by Addison Moore

“Sometimes duplicity and treason are markers of the enemy, and sometimes, the failed intention of a masterful ally.”

VexVex is an interesting study in behaviors and what motivates those behaviors. To what lengths will one go in order to protect the ones they love? Or to lay claim to a love that belongs to another?

In this book, trust is a malleable thing, as are feelings and intentions. Duplicity is not always a form of evil, but it is duplicity nonetheless. It seems that Vex is an appropriate name for this book, because each character is vexed partially or thoroughly all through the story... Skyla most of all.

This book is entertaining. There is humor sprinkled in here and there that, at times, is laugh out loud funny. The characters are more thoroughly developed and some become more complex. Per usual, the ending is a true cliffhanger, one that makes the heart drop and the stomach clinch. Moore certainly knows how to ensnare her readers so that the next book is purchased right away.

What happens next?

Now in My Bookbag: WICKED (Celestra Series #4) by Addison Moore

“There are only a few true moments in life that define you…”

Wicked truly brings home this premise. It is easy to see that the title directly, and aptly, applies to Chloe. However, I can see that the title may also apply to the fact that any of the characters will show a wicked side based on circumstance and motivation. Even someone inherently good may show a different side of themselves if properly motivated. The reasons may vary, but actions speak for themselves. Whether evil or altruistic, the decisions of the moment create yet another layer to the complexity of the characters of the series.

Wicked is a good addition to the series, and it provides yet another cliffhanger to create a craving for Vex, the next book of the Celestra Series. Well done.

Now in My Bookbag: Burn (Celestra Series Book #3) by Addison Moore

“…we don’t know what the fallout will be, but we do know it’s coming – consequences that will strike like lightning. This is the storm of our own making. It’s going to touch down in our lives and inevitably burn something to the ground – we just have no idea what that might be.” (Skyla Messenger, Burn)

Burn

This is a perfect summation for the events of this book. Each decision, action or inaction creates major consequences. There is regret, guilt, heartache, sorrow, confusion and horror.

Burn is a better structured story than Tremble (Book 2 of the series). It is well-written, has a natural flow, and further develops the series without feeling overstuffed with information. This book sets the series back on track by returning to the same feel as Ethereal (Book 1 of the series). Hopefully the rest of the series will follow suit.
